Visions in the dark

The Inspiration for the Show

The Subconscious Canvas was inspired by the works of artist Crystal Dyer and her work with Hypnotist Alexandra Janelli of Theta Spring Hypnosis in 2012.

“Visions in the Dark is an installation of drawings and video in my studio, an old doctor’s office, which was renovated soon after. The ephemeral space started as an inspiration and over time transformed into a drawing unto itself. I left many  remnants from the previous occupant and in some cases emphasized them. I used the original wallpaper as the paper for some of the         drawings and the drawings’ background share the same color palette as that of the space. All of the drawings were made while being in a state of hypnosis. In November of 2012, Alexandra Janelli from Theta Spring hypnotized me. For every drawing I listened to the twenty-one minute recording of the session and proceeded to draw. The hypnotic trance would last from thirty minutes to two hours.” - crystal dyer,  June 12th, 2013The Subconscious Canvas was inspired by the works of artist Crystal Dyer and her work with Hypnotist Alexandra Janelli of Theta Spring Hypnosis in 2012.
